CV Impact Matters

By Tarryn Johnson

Your CV is one of your most powerful tools in your job search, but how you present yourself on paper can make all the difference. If you’re still listing tasks instead of achievements, it’s time for a change. CV Impact Matters—how you showcase your value can set you apart from other candidates.

Why Focusing on Impact Matters:

Employers are looking for candidates who can deliver results. Instead of listing your daily tasks, focus on how you added value in your role. For example, instead of “Assisted with social media,” try “Increased social media engagement by 30%.

How to Showcase Results:

When thinking about how to showcase your results, consider the impact of your actions, even if you haven’t had a formal job yet. Maybe you improved a process during your internship, project, or volunteering role. Did you contribute to a team’s success, help raise funds for an event, or find ways to make things more efficient? Think about the ways you helped things run smoothly. Use specific examples or numbers whenever possible to show your contributions, like how many people you helped, tasks you completed, or goals you reached.

Even Unpaid Experience Counts:

If you have limited work experience, don’t worry! Even unpaid internships or volunteer work can demonstrate valuable skills. The key is to highlight the impact you made in those roles, no matter how small it may seem.

Updating your CV to reflect the value you bring can make a huge difference when job hunting. Focus on impact, not just tasks, and you'll make your experience stand out.
